The piece for symphony orchestra was inspired by the 14-15th century monk and engineer Thangtong Gyalpo. He is said to have built 58 sustain chain bridges in Tibet and Bhutan.
During my one-year stay in Bhutan I have visited one of his bridges and that became an inspiration for the symphonic piece. Its mirror-like structure consists of segments that gradually transform from one into another and guide the listener into a harmonically and rhythmically insecure state through a choral (as a women choir theater performance was the source of income for Thangtong Gyalpo for the purpouse of building bridges.
